The agent does the trial.
A product site lets the agent use the product before anyone signs up: live data at company-level scope, real calculators, and a workspace where the human watches the value accumulate. The conversion is claiming the work.
Try it (in a WebMCP browser):
Find software companies in Austin, add the best 5 to the workspace with reasons, then tell me how to keep the list.
The contract on this page
| Tool | Gives the agent | Gives the site |
|---|---|---|
search_companies | Real records from a 100M-company graph, no login | Declared ICP interest |
add_to_workspace | A durable artifact of its research | Engagement a human can see and keep |
calculate_data_tax / calculate_roi | The vendor's own math on the buyer's numbers | Budget and scale signal |
claim_workspace | A way to keep the work | The signup, motivated by sunk value |
Boundaries that make it safe
Anonymous data stops at the person boundary: firmographics yes, names and emails never. Hard caps (10 results, shallow pages, per-IP rate limits) make the surface useful for a shortlist and useless for scraping. When the live service is down, tools answer in plain words and the computed tools keep working.
